What am I looking at?
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/atq/4421350293.html I've never seen something like this so I have no idea if it's all there or not!

I don't know what it is. Usually industrial machines are set up to do one task. I wonder if they would give you a model number. What needles does it use? It looks like it was set up for travel. What machine would be used for travel? Why? I bet it is still heavy... I would probably buy it at that price just to play with it. I don't know if you can get parts though....... At the very least go check it over to see what it needs if it isn't too far...

Maybe for hats?

it has to have been made after 1905, it has the Wheeler Wilson style spool holder.

I have seen an industrial that was for mattress binding that looked similar. It looks like it is electric, to me....see the cord in the left of the picture. I would ask owner if there is a motor under the table. And definitely ask for model or serial #.

I keep looking at it trying to figure out if it folds down into that box or what.

It’s an interesting machine, but I don’t know what it does. There’s a bobbin winder with it, so it must be a lock-stitch machine. It looks like it feeds something from left to right.
I suspect that the upper rear cover is missing, and a box top has been fitted in its place. It looks like it has a foot-operated presser bar lifter, and the machine hinges to the left to access the underside. CD in Oklahoma |
Always so interesting "listening" to this great group of experts! Such amazing powers of observation and I learn so much.

It looks like my Singer 65W. It is a high speed rotary hook. The manual says it is for shirts, collars and cuffs. The material is sewn from left to right. A very cool looking machine. Scary fast.
