what am I?

I ran into this on CL. It's definitely in my budget and I'm interested! But what is it? I'm guessing one of the old chain stitchers, but that's a WAG on my part. Does anyone have a better-educated guess than mine? If you know what it is, does it look like all (or most) of it is there? Unfortunately, this is the only picture posted.

Wasn't there an Octagon sewing machine company? Try ismacs.com and look through the machine pics. Very cool machine!

Whatever it is, it's cool!

Well, I still don't know what it is, but I have two possibilites.

This one: http://www.dincum.com/library/lib_go...octagonal.html

And this one: http://www.dincum.com/library/lib_co...octagonal.html

I left the poster a message, so hopefully I'll hear back soon!

Could this have been used to sew up shoes or hats?

I believe it's a Gold Medal...

...It's a Gold Medal. I asked; the poster called back to tell me she had just sold it to someone who made up their mind faster than I did. Win some, lose some!
