That certainly looks like a cam to me.. My mom had a singer that used cams and they looked like that..

Is the machine an AZ5, Universal or Keystone? I've seen that only one other time, back in February on the vintage Japanese Yahoo group. It's some sort of adjustment, not a cam but I don't know if it was ever figured out.

I don't know what it is either. The Phoenix I used to have has a cam stack in the back of the machine. You can pull it out and change the cams if you have any. I don't know about that one.

No idea. What does it say on it?

OK. It is a machine on ebay. I look there to learn more about machines and learn the differences and stuff (and to drool). This machine is strange because 1. There is no name plate on the front but the tacks that would hold it in appear to be there. The 'Stitchmaster in the back has, to its left, one of the gold tacs but then the nameplate is secured with regular screws. So I really don't know what kind of machine it is. I have inquired for pic of model number which may settle my curiosity. Disclaimer: I am not in any way connected to or know the seller of this item. It says Loosen and looks like a cam but theres no numbers to signify the stitch.

I just posted a query on another group to the person who has one of these machines asking her if she ever figured it out but it might take a few days to get an answer.

I know a Husqvarna machine i was looking at had a cam that you stick in there. It was shaped like a bottle cap with long sides. I didn't purchase it because I was already over my budget with a singer I had in my cart already. LOL

I think the Husqvarna machine was the 1+ and you would put 1 of 3 cams into the back. Machine was 2 tone...1 color was brown.
