I have a friend who just moved to NC from CT and she brought me a machine she found years ago at an auction ....that is the last 3 photos - I havent had a chance yet to find a date, etc, but I am guessing the 1800"s.....

If any of my quitling buddies out there knows anything about the FREE one, the older one, please tell me....it has a coffin top too, and the cabinet has a small leaf that opens on the right...I think those drawer handles are a replacement for the originals (maybe ??)t

The first 3 photos are of one I found at an estate sale for $20.00 -it is a 1928 one, 66-16 if the info is right, and it sews like a dream....my hubby did a little "fixing" on it, and now it is wonderful....very quiet, tight stitch, I am pleased. If I am wrong on the date or model, please tell me !

I love you quilters...and if anyone in the world has answers, it is you......I have learned SO much from all of you...

Love both of your machines! I have a Singer head that looks like your second one. Mine was also free. I found it on the side of the road waiting for trash pick up. It doesn't have any decals though. I think it had spent some time outside. I know it want's to sew again, I just know it does.

It's a Singer Model 12, AKA New family. Made in 1881 according to the serial number. The decal set is just called "Star" by Needlebar. Very cool cabinet! The hardware on it is probably original as they look very like my 1886 Improved Family model.

The Singer 12 is a great machine I have two of them on in a treadle and on is a HC and they are wonderful sewers. The only draw back is they use a 12X1 or Boye 23 and can be hard to find. So look on ebay for them.

thanks to ALL of you for your help in getting more information about both of these neat old iron ladies.......
Any idea where I could get a manual or a copy ? I want to try sewing on the older one (the "12" ) but I sure would love to have a manual to look at.......I dont want to mess up anything on it........
