Is this what I think it is?

I found this ad on craigslist. I've talked to the gal 4 times now and we are going to meet so I can look at the machine. This looks like a 15 clone to me. It's new home instead of singer which is what got me thinking it was a clone. There's a picture of the machine, it's tan, in the ad.

What do you all think?

The New Home model AHC is not a Singer clone. Double check that the machine does NOT take the special CC1221 needle. The handwheel on this machine may turn backwards to stitch. I have a New Home Light Running NLB and she sews very nicely and I was lucky that she came with a couple of the special needles. Do test drive the machine. Good luck.

I will certainly look. We couldn't meet today, but we will at some point. I will look at the needles in the little needle cases she has to see what kind they are. I don't want a machine that requires a special anything. Cams, needles, shuttlebobbins. I think they are great machines, I just know what my limitations are. That's kind of a bummer. Thanks for the info though! I just got home so I hadn't had a chance to research it properly yet.

You can find them very inexpensive on CL some are light weight some heavy.

I'm unsure how serious the seller is and I'm not interested if it isn't a 15, original or clone. I have 2 vintage singers already and a 15 would make my collection complete. I could cover the dogs on the 66 but I'd rather drop them like you can on the 15. We'll see what happens. Thank you all for your help! I really appreciate it.

Easy then. You're in doubt so don't buy it. There are a lot of 15 clones out there (I've even bought at least one by accident in Australia) so wait until a nice one presents itself.

Good thing you asked here first. I'd have assumed it was too with all the Singer stuff in the pictures.

I made the mistake of thinking a different New Home was a clone. It is a cool machine but not a clone. It frustrates me because the cord plugs into the case. The case is one of the bentwood cases - very cool. The wires need to be replaced - the end of the cord cannot be replaced. I think it is going to take some major re-wiring.
