What sewing machine do I have?

Hello everyone. Right now I couldn’t tell you anything about anything having to do with sewing other than it happens with thread and a needle.

With that said. An elderly neighbor was throwing this away and I couldn’t let that happen so I took it home. I just need to know exactly what it is so I can search and figure out how to clean it up and use it. I’ve plugged it in and it seems to work( idk stuff moves when I press the thigh peddle)

Thank you for any and all help.

I have obviously typed in singer 15- but I’m getting lost after that. I’m not sure if I’m missing a set of numbers after the dash. I’m just not totally sure exactly which model I have

I found a tool with questions on another post. I don’t see a rubber belt which led me to say it’s gear driven and I ended up at 15-91

does that look right to anyone?

Looks like a 1955 Singer 15-91.
The only warning that I have is check out the wiring well before you plug it in! Sometimes the years and sun are not friendly to the insulation.
It is a great sewing machine!

Yes, a 15-91. The wiring does look stuff and brittle. Even tho the outer casing may not be broken, likely the inner insulation is crumbly. SewClassic has replacement cords, as well as wire for the lamp. The compression rings (3) on the lamp are a bit of a hassle to remove and reinstall, there's a tool for that which helps immensely.
Sewing machine oil on the exterior will do wonders, as will a metal polish on the shiny bits.
With a potted motor, the grease cups may need some attention. Clean out, and replace with petroleum jelly.

Have fun with your machine and thanks for the rescue. It makes me cringe to think of that being tossed but I know you can't take 'em with you!
