propane powered Singer 66?? !^)

I didn't even see the tank. Can a sewing machine be propane powered? This might be the 66 I'm looking for.

Go see it! For $20 it seems to me that you have to at least do that but quickly ..... if you are not far from it that is.

LOL :D I have said that same thing many times. Usually referring to the sellers in extreme derogatory terms as well.

It is an electric powered 66 but what dash number is anybodies guess. It's also missing the spool pin and slide plate.
But for the price I'd grab it and refurbish it.

From the looks of the decals, rear inspection plate, handwheel, and motor style, I’d guess it is a Singer 66-16. Part of my daily entertainment is looking at listings and trying to figure out what model it is, regardless of what it says in the ad. I never know if I guess right or wrong, but I feel entertained anyway.

I’ve found several steam-powered sewing machines on YouTube, so I don’t know why one couldn’t be powered by propane. Although, a gas-fired generator large enough to produce 110VAC to run that particular machine might burn quite a little propane. It could re-define the term “sweat shop” if it was set up in a small sewing room in a home. After a short amount of sewing, one might want to slip off to an air-conditioned bowling alley for a while.

Judging by the light and cabinet, a 1920s vintage model 66. Well worth the $20 to me though it probably won't have reverse like the later model 66s do. That style cabinet is the same as what my daughter has for her 1926 model 101. It's a nice walnut cabinet that fits most decors.
