I've been watching that one too. It's a neat looking machine which is probably accounting for a lot of the attention. The typewriter key controls on top are just about as cool as it gets in my opinion. If it was more affordable I'd be interested.

It IS a 319W made in the 50s or there abouts. Nothing "rare" about it. But they are popular and if in good shape with the correct 206-13 needles are excellent machines.

We got a 319K and it's one of my wife's favorites.

They are unique, but not really that rare, and they were made in the 50's, not 1911-1920 as stated in the ad.

They take 206x13 needles that aren't very common, but can be found, and have limited sizes.

I like the look of the mint green one more than the black one.

IMO, the price is getting pretty high, considering it is untested, has no power cord, and a shipping charge still needs to be added.

The black ones are a lot harder to find. I've been watching for one for several months now.

I agree - the price is getting up there, and I would not pay that much if it's got to be shipped. If a person wants a 319, the green ones show up on ebay all the time. I probably should go for a green one, as I have a black 301 and I don't own any green Singers yet.

Great machine, with loads of built in stitches. I like them a lot.

I'm not sure but I have read several places that that series of Singer's was first made in about 1938 and were the first ZZ machines sold for home use. Not sure if it was the 319, might have been the 206, but in the same general design. Anyone know for sure??

I think the price is getting too high. thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm sure another one will come along. Macy if you ever see something in madison ... I would be more than happy to pick up for you.

In Australia the prices of sewing machines vary immensely. I've seen 319s go for well over $100 with no cams but someone I know got a perfect one with a full set of cams and accessories (including a twin needle!) for $30. The latter is the cheapest one I've seen but shows it's possible to get one for almost nothing. From the time she started looking it took about three weeks to find it.
This is in Australia where there are probably less machines around: If you're patient you'll find a bargain and shouldn't have to wait long.
EDIT: There are *always* people who have a time limit on getting rid of a machine, or they're impatient and just want to see the back of something that's been hanging around too long. Their impatience is good for pricing :o
