What would be a good price range for a Necchi 538/539?

Lady has one she's putting in her garage sale this weekend. The sale was posted on Craigs List and I took a chance and emailed her. She graciously offered to let me come before Saturday and look! She even sent me pics of the machine. I did a search and mostly came up with sites to buy replacement parts.

What would be a ballpark figure to offer?

Is this a good machine?

BTW, all the older sewing machines on our local Craigs List are NOT cheap!! I think all the sellers have been reading the QB!!

Necchi is a wonderful brand, though the model you listed isn't one of the more in demand ones. I tend to be conservative with what I pay for vintage machines. Mainly, because I've found at least 75% of them need work or replacement parts. People tend to sell them when something is wrong or they can't get it to sew correctly. That being said...is it in a table, attachments?? Kind of hard to give a price. It's what you're willing to pay, really. Me, I'm not willing to pay a whole lot so I would probably offer $20 or $30.

Thanks, Candace, the Necchi does come in a case but I didn't see any attachments in the pic. She gave me her # to call her so I can verify everything when I call. I'm waiting on an email as to what she wants for it. I'm hoping "cheap"!! LOL

I learned to sew on a Necchi, and would love to have the room to get one. Have no idea what model it was, it was ina cabinet with the knee pedel.
