Is this Wheeler & Wilson machine redeemable?

I am cleaning out an estate and one of the items is a Wheeler & Wilson sewing machine. It is very rusty and the wheel will not turn. Is this something that can be saved or should it just be scrapped?

Also, here is picture of a treadle machine stand. There is no wheel belt

If its complete, bobbin and case, shuttle, is there its redeemable. I have one just like it and while it did turn it was TIGHT. Put some oil on all the moving parts and it should free up.

I came across one completely frozen up with rust (wondered if it had been under water for an extended period). After soaking it in transmission fluid for a couple days it began to move. Other methods have also been suggested but I have not personally tried them.

It is redeemable. It will take a lot of work but it can be done. I'd gladly undertake such a project were I to run across one.

oh yeah. That would be fun....

It's redeemable. I wouldn't scrap it. Worst case is part it out so several other machines can live. I'm sure there's someone out there wanting the treadle base and lid too.

If anyone wants the machine for cost of postage, let me know. It was just going to be donated to local hospice thrift store and they would probably just trash it. There is a wooden box with attachments. The stand will go to the thrift store. I think it would be too difficult to ship the stand.

The machine w/o the cabinet is not worth the effort in my opinion. That treadle cabinet is what makes the the machine. I think it would be a mistake to separate them. What would you do with a machine and no cabinet to run it in? The W&W cabinets will not take a Singer machine, the hinge spacing and base is different. So, my suggestion is to keep them together. I question how the machine can look so bad and the treadle cabinet is in good condition...what a shame.
I agree with Joe...don't separate them. It will make someones day to find this machine in it's base...

I agree. They've been together for so long. Do you really want to be the person who splits it up?
Perhaps you could list it on Craigslist for free?
