White rotary question
1 Attachment(s)
I have lots of these bobbin cases and bobbins. Most I picked up at thrift stores. I have one White rotary and was wondering if anyone knows when they stopped using this style of bobbin case and bobbin? Also are there any other machines they will fit?
Thank you:) |
Sending you a PM.
Rodney Kenmore 117.xxxx machines were made by White and use the same bobbins and cases. I think White made a few other badged machines for other companies as well. I'm not sure when they stopped being made. 1950s maybe when White switched to Japanese made machines. |
They fit only White made machines. But that includes many Domestic and Kenmore and some others. At some point they outsourced machines and those use Singer style bobbins and side clamp feet.

Thanks peeps, appreciate it.

I think those fit a Franklin, too.

Franklin is another "badged" White machine - I think they early ones were made by Domestic before Domestic was taken over by White - but the early ones aren't rotary so it does not matter. Franklin was a badge name for Sears at the time.

I have heard these bobbin cases referred to as “banjo type” bobbin cases. It seems like there are two different designs of them. The White case is #836, and takes a #744 rotary bobbin.
ETA: The old style White bobbin case was the other design, and was a #741. Free and New Home Rotary machines had one that looks similar, but has a solid center pin. CD in Oklahoma |
Sure take something easy and make it all complicated. Now there's a possibility of TWO different cases for the older Whites.
Thanks CD. :D Rodney |
Well, armed with all of this new info I will hang onto my stash now that I know they are not exclusive and I can use them in quite a few different machines. Thanks again.
Pm'd you Rodney:thumbup: |
