White Rotary Sewmaster 611
 

I found this machine at a block garage sale, the original owner had past away and one of the kids was selling it. I don't think it was every really used as they had some other machine for sale as well that looked like it was used. It had seized up and i was able to talk them down a bit on the price because of that and they didn't live in the area so they were happy to get it off their hands. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these. I searched just about everywhere I could online but came up empty.

Very interesting with the motor under the bed. It looks like new, even the tags aren't removed yet! I guess your machine can be from the 40s, hard to tell. There is a line of machines they call streamliners, very smooth straight lines, curved edges, and very solid look like yours. Your machine makes me think of a few Kenmore models. I have seen the brown crinkle finish on machines from 1930s and maybe a bit into the very early 50s. It needs a bit more investigation, but I'm sure you will find a manual and closer indetification of your model. The rotary models gets appraisal from owners who use them, run lightly and stitch well. Chance is your machine is a notch stronger and faster than the average old straight stitcher. You have to let us now how it stitches and behaves in general :- )


Some of these models have very fancy top tension mechanism, so be careful when cleaning. It's adviced not to take them appart, it can be nearly impossible to get them back together. The trick is to gently clean, dust with a cotton swab, vacuume cleaner, compressed air,... Some are simpler and easier to take appart and clean, just be a bit careful before you know what you have.

Oh sorry, I guess I didn't mention that I already have it running, it just needed a little oil. I also.cleane up the old wicks and put in new lubricant. Though overall this machine was very clean for the most part and for how old it is.

Also i have the manual but the only identification on it is ''series 611' and that didn't help in my search. But there other interesting thing about this machine is that apparently white was mostly making the pully types, but this one is belt driven.

My, you do have an interesting beastie.

Fascinating! Shows an evolution of the front tension on the old white family rotary machine. What is the true color? The top pictures look like a drab gray, but the bottom pictures look like a beautiful green crinkle. I would have had to have it too if that is the true color!

The bottom pictures are more true to it's actual color, poor lighting in the top pictures are mostly the cause for that.

From the research I did regarding this machine, it is what "White" called the stitches using all three spool pins. I would think it would be in the manual. Also curious as to what needle is to to be used and what thread weights.
