White Sewing Machine Attachment, What is it?

2 Attachment(s)
This sewing machine attachment was in a box of White sewing machine attachments that I bought from Goodwill. I don't know if originally belonged to a White sewing machine. First picture is of the attachment as it came out of the box and the second is of the attachment after I took the string off of it. Anyone have any clues as to what it is?

I'm pretty sure it's a tucker. I have only seen pictures of ones with the large spring, but the idea is that you sew one tuck and the little pointy end is adjusted so that it marks where the nexst tuck goes.

Isn't it amazing what some of these vintage attachments look like. They just look like contraptions. It's so neat to me.

I have no idea how it goes but it would be fun to put it on the machine and puzzle it out.

Since White was made by Singer you can send this to them and they will tell you what it is and how to use it. I have two White Rotory machines and both were made in the 1920's. One was given to my mother by my father before I was born and the other I bought on Craigs List for $5 with all the attachments and cabinet. I had to call Singer to find out what some of the attachments that came with it. Good luck with your search.

White was a stand alone company based in Ohio. Singer never made machines for any company but Singer. Period. White on the other hand took on all comers and you will find badged Whites with every name under the sun on them.

I don't know what the attachment is. Sorry.

It looks exactly like my Goodrich Tuck maker. It that came in its box in a drawer of my New Home treadle.

Had no idea my self. Glad to know that there actually was a reason to have it with a sewing machine. thank you, deplaylady, for your pictures and explanation.
M.I.Late, I agree with you. These do look like contraptions that would cause awful bodily harm!!

It amazes me that the regular housewife was trusted with such devices when women were thought to be dim minded. Now we could never be trusted to oil andlubricate the machine!!
