A White treadle
I am at a quilting retreat and have been offered a White treadle. I want one that I can use so I'm concerned about the needles and the bobbins. I have not seen the machine only pictures, it is supposed to be runable. It has the standard shape of the White with the last Patent date on the plate being 1911. Is this enough information? Thanks for your help, I have been looking for a year and this one looks nice with decals and in a parlour cabinet - which is the other part that is important to me.

Do you know if it takes the long bobbins or round bobbins? If it takes long bobbins it will have slides across the base like this one

I have an older White too. It has the strangest tension I have ever seen on a machine. I will have to take a pic but I can't right now. I hope this machine is what you want and brings you great pleasure

yes, they are strange tension regulators. Few people are brave enough to open one up. I haven't . |
This thread https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...e-t305283.html is on the rotary.

Leon I don't know which kind it is, the picture I saw was not close-up. I have made an appointment to go and see it on Sunday afternoon. Can either of you tell me more about the tension. This is not a deal breaker is it?

blstone: Welcome to the Board. Thanks for your response. I am more worried about the needles actually. This machine came from an old quilter and was gifted to this woman. I don't think she actually even wanted it and it has sat in the house and now in the basement for some years. She knows she won't use it and was already thinking of getting rid of it when I said I was looking for a treadle. There must be at least some bobbins but needles are another story. I just emailed her and asked her to send me pictures.

This thread discusses needles for White Rotary. https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...a-t181242.html . I looked at my 1912 White Rotary manual and all it says it to buy White needles, costing $.30 a dozen. :) I have some needles with my WR accessories, but i couldn't find the size on them.
