Wilcox and gibb needles and nut found!

So I got the nut for the chain stitch autotensioner machine from sew Europe ...it is slightly smaller in length than the original but fits the treads perfectly ...

The right needles I found from " treadle lady" shop on etsy. They are a perfect match.

I also got some lockstitch vintage needles they are schmetz system 75 starke 90. I think stark means size. They are in vintage packets like paper envoleopes and the inner paper cracked so I think they're genuine vintage. If anyone has a need for these I can post them
Since I'm useless at tech I will try to post a photo of my machine with its new nutt and the smetz lockstitch needles. They are very similar to the chain stitch but a tiny bit longer.
Thanks for everyone's help and advice! Can't wait to start a project soon!

I'm wondering if the needles you got would work in the Singer treadle that you mentioned at https://www.quiltingboard.com/8473523-post7.html.

Looking forward to the pictures, https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wink.png

I found this https://www.ebay.com/itm/22404596467...p2047675.l2557 And yes those would be for the Lockstitch #10 Willcox & Cibbs.

I'm having a hard time finding the dimensions for those particular needles. I'll keep looking.

They wouldn't fit the singer because they don't have a flat side they're rounded and then they have a groove at the side same as the chain stitch needle has but they're about 4/5 mm longer so that in the chain stitch machine the presser foot couldn't be used. The guy said you could cut them down but seems a shame since they're vintage some of them look a little squiffy as if they've had rust removed or something... There's sort of a texture along the groove so they might not all be viable ...I assume the lockstitch has the same pin as the chain and that might get damaged so someone might want to check each one carefully.

I think I have a few of the old singer treadle needles which seem to have a needle length groove but a flat edge at the top where it slots in. They seem quite long. I haven't cleaned the treadle one or oiled it yet. So can't really check but I think it will be easy enough to find singer needles for it.
Did I mention the sock knitting machine we also found! Didn't even know such a thing existed!! 😃 I might go over to my aunts and have a fiddle with the treadle for some fun for the evening!

Hi Janey,

The system 75 or 581 are the same as the W&G chainstitch needle just a bit longer, roughly 1/8". This needle is used on the American Edge Baster (whatever that is, lol) as well as the W&G Type 10 and 11. The shanks of these needles can be ground down and work on the chain stitchers. I'd love to find a bunch of size 12's which are no longer made for the CS. The new needle sizes start at 14 and get larger up to 19.
