Willcox and Gibbs Twin Needle
2 Attachment(s)
Hi all! I am new here :D
I just purchased a Wilcox and Gibbs machine (1870?). It seems that this machine has a twin needle. I can't find this machine online anywhere to learn how to thread it and one of the needles are jammed in it. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this kind of machine? I want to restore it. I attached some pics. Stefanie |
Awesome find! It is an early Glass tensioned W&G. Very nice.
W&G were heavy in to the industrial end of things. they made hundreds if not thousands of different variations of their machine for specific industry needs. These are usually Chainstitchers, i would LOVE to see the "looper" under the bed that allows a twin needle chainstitch. Be careful about cleaning this one, it may have some value... |
Awesome!!!

Thank you for the info! :D
Now if i could only figure out how to thread the machine. There are no spots to place a spool. |

That is the coolest mechanism! I see how it keeps the outer looper in perfect sync with the inner one. Brilliant!
I suspect that it was feed from two cone type spools that would sit on a pair of shelves on a separate post like most industrials. like this one here If you EVER decide to part with this, please PM me first. Thanks for sharing! |
