Willcox and Gibbs value?

I saw a beautiful Willcox and Gibbs treadle machine today in an antique shop. The cabinet had 4 drawers and a coffin top. Does anyone have an opinion on the value of a a machine like this? It was a small sized older one. The guy was asking $285 and it seemed high, but I keep thinking about it because it was sooooo pretty.

Hi,

Seems reasonable for a retail setting. I see them sell for $150 and up on ebay for local pick up. Sometimes the base alone shipped goes for $300. Wouldn't hurt to try negotiating. Good Luck.

I agree with Jon as for the asking price. If she is still calling to you go back and try negotiating. Keep in mind that the price is retail and the seller likely paid a whole lot less. Good luck.

Bet he'd take $200 if you offered it... I rarely pay full asking price, even in an antique store! :)
