Wilson wheeler d9 tension spring

Hi trying to repair my grandmas d9 singer model? I think. The tension spring is bent to pieces can this be repaired? Or can I order a new one? I have a picture but can’t get it to this page. Thanks for any info

Half the job is tracking down repalcement parts. I have had good luck searching on ebay, contacting various sources like Helen Howes in the UK and individuals in the Treadle.on.network. On the Victorian Sweatshop forum is a few clever people who knows this model first hand. I'm sure they can give more advice. I found this face plate during a quick search on ebay, it looks like the spring is intact. I have no idea how Singer's version differs unfortunately. Keep and eye out and have patience and a replacement part will turn up.

I know some like this model a lot. I don't know how much time and money you are willing to spend to get the machine nice again, but it's usually not to much. I looked up Helen Howes site and found this. She is worth contacting and has parts not listed on the website.

Another place for help and good advice is the relatively new groups.io and since yours is made after Singer bought the factory, you could post in the Singer group too.

Best of luck with your project. If you are new to cast iron straight stitchers you are in for a pleasant surprice. It can be some work to get them running and stitching again.

If you still have the picture, it can be easier to link to a /open album. It is usually about shrinking the picture to the right size, but if you can embed the picture from another site it's not as fuzzy.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I did email Helen Howes and she might have one We did rig up one based on a parts manual picture, but I’m sure a real one would be better.. Thanks again
