I've seen pictures from the outside of another store. The person who took them thinks they might be a chain. Nice to see the machines being displayed like that instead of turned into some sort of repurposed thing.

Allsaints. It is a chain of upscale clothing stores. The beautiful vintage machines with authentic handcranks languishing in the windows was bad enough, but using welded up old industrial machines and modified treadles as racks almost made me cry. Or try to run out with an antique crank to put on my 66.

The one in Seattle has easily over 200 machines. My mother and I got a few funny looks being in that store and just looking at the machines.

Sssooooo why else would a person ever go there???

I'd love to go - but would probably cry as from what I've read, they aren't that interested in the machines except as decor . . .

I have a son who lives in Seattle and I had asked him if he had ever seen this place. He said he has walked by it but it's too pricey for him to go in. Still, he said the window was interesting .... but he is not interested in machines. Too bad!

I was visiting my daughter and there is a store in downtown boston with sewing machines. I went in yo ask why they used this format. I none of the clerks knew.

Few yrs ago I went to the store in Miami Beach --took pics and looked at machines -373 machines. Told QBd. too.
I could have spent hours. High end clothing store from the UK apparently. I remember I wrote that I couldn't buy anything because they never had anything big enough !!!! Most of machines came from England too.
I wasn't a vintage collector at that time but I think that trip planted the seed.

I can see that. I only have a handful of machines, but that store made me wish for more. And it was all shades of grey clothing for the urban wealthy that made me feel short and fat. And old. I'm only 38. I think they're used to it though, because no one bothered us.

Yes. It's Allsaints and, as I understand it, the owner decorates all the shop storefront windows this way. The sight just took my breath away - - -

There is a store All Saints in the Cosmopolitan casino in Las Vegas, NV. There could be at least 1000 machines, on the three walls. Just beautiful.

If there is one in California I hope the machines and shelves are bolted down.....anyone near that during an earthquake would be seriously hurt.

for me looking at the machines....especially the handcranks.....would be like looking into the sun. I just have to tell myself that they are all probably broken or missing bobbin cases !!!!!!!!

This reminds me of advice I recieved from a person with 'experience' when in the car, traveling with your machine...fasten it in place with a seat belt.....even in "just a fender-bender" the machine can become airborne

So these folks have hundreds of hand crank machines just sitting around for display purposes?

What a waste.

All Saints has fabulous clothes! If you are ever close to one of the stores and are a garment maker, be sure to go in and look at the construction of the clothes (beautiful construction techniques). There is also, a store near Washington DC. in Georgetown.

Looks like a window of teasings! Wow, could just look and stare at it awhile!
