Have any of you ever heard of Wizard Precision Sewing Machine? The model number is Brother JA19.NA.38419. Where can I go to find infomation about this machine? I am trying to upload the pictures from my phone.

I was in one of our local thrift stores today and walked by a sewing machine table. I was quite surprise when I opened it and saw this. Another man was looking at it for the desk, he did not want the machine. When the man working at the store told him he had to get both, the man decided he didn't want it. I could care less about the little wobbly desk it sits in. We plugged it in, the motor works but the belt is broken. I was glad to give them $20. I am so excited. My BIL is going to help me clean it. He loves working on old cars so he was very excited to chrome and gold detailing on sewing machines.

Sweet a Japanese model 15 with a JA number!!! I can definitely use this for my research and it will be a great help in figuring out the Japanese machines origin!

The Japanese 15's to me are better made than the original Singer design. The hook assembly fits better and the overall fit and finish is better and you can toss them in a treadle. I have my "Universal" 15 in my treadle right now and it is my go to machine with drop feed dogs for FMQ.

I found this by Googling. Put this in: Precision deluxe Wizard sewing machine. You should find something. Like the following.

IT’s probably not an antique, just "vintage"… iirc, Wizard was Western Auto’s house brand,and it was probably a Japanese import machine. If this is a straight stitch only machine, it might be a knockoff of a Singer 15: http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/15.pdf Gazillions of these "badged machines" were imported, especially in the 50s and 60s.

These machines are called Singer Clones. Most are pretty good machines, that were made in Japan. I collect them.

Brother made it for Western Auto. It is a class 15 machine with an oscillating hook. Straight stitch only. Give it a good dusting and oil every place metal touches metal and she'll run like the wind.

Check on both ends of the motor housing for a small hole, they will be near the bulge on the back end of the motor and near the pulley wheel on the front of the motor. If there is one, DON'T put oil in it! It is a grease port. Get a tube of Singer Lube or even some plain vaseline to put in them.

Hey Tracy here is the side view of the machine, not sure if you can see the tension wheels, spacers. Do you know what tehy are called?

You can see the screw on the back of the machine where the tension goes, I have the spacers but not the knob that goes on the end. It also have a knee press instead of a foot pedal. I need to find a belt and a foot pedal. Thanks.
