Wizzard zz hand crank conversion.

I got inspired to get a zz hand crank and my pretty Wizzard was being ignored. So a handwheel change, a Chinese HC addition and it was ready to rock. Now to clean it up. It went to a quilt shop in Cottonwood Falls for it's first outing. Owner is playing with it.

That's not the first Brother built machine I've seen turned into a hand crank. Miriam has done it too along with a few I've seen on the interwebs. jeez, just when I think I couldn't like Brother machines any more than I already do something like this comes along.....:)
Cari I just noticed that big bobbin winder in the pic. I have one and love it. |
Cari, Always like to tease you with something else. Wish that winder was mine.

My winder only works with M class bobbins. I wish it worked with others as it does a fantastic job.
You can tease me with the Atlas but not the hand crank. Cari |
Those kookie aftermarket cranks work better than their loosey-goosey construction might suggest. I put one on a 66, a 1921 with the correct handwheel in place. I mounted it in a shelf next to her old Macomber loom (1937), and she uses it often when she weaves rags, or so it appears to me. (I care far more about the equipment, particularly the broken stuff, than about the craft, though I got my wife a Mirrix tapestry loom for Xmas and have been fooling with that lately.)
