Is it worth "more"?

1936 antique sewing machine and desk. Asking $75. I think the badge is red...does that make it more valuable? Or is that only with featherweights?

Can't see the pictures too well, it is not a red eye tho. could be a 201, I can't get pic big enough to see.

The machine is a 15-91. The red is in the the badge on the pillar. I "think" the red was a commemorative for the worlds fair that year. I've read something about it somewhere, but can't remember.
Personally the red in the badge would not affect my decision to buy or not to buy. Since I'm not a collector things like that don't enter into my thinking. Joe |
I think $75 is high for that machine. The cabinet is common and small.

Around here $75 would be about right. You might get them down to $60, or so. The 15 is a wonderful machine. I use mine for FMQing and it's great. The feed dogs actually drop on this one.

Will you have to have the machine serviced - you might pay the $75 for that.

They are very common....many people give them away for free

I would pay that, it looks good. My 15-91 was free and wasn't in a cabinet either. It is a machine worth owning IMHO.

You would pay a LOT more for a plastic wonder and would never be the machine that one is - you can still get some parts for those old machines.
