Really This?

Is there really a bronze/copper color under all the black? If so, anyone restore one?

Actually, those are two different "options", so no, not shiny bronze under the black (as far as I know, I have not actually stripped one)

I have to lighten the color on most pic's Then zoom in. I could see spots that look like rust. and crinkle I'd have say, it's just the embossed version

I've been keeping my eye on one on craigslist that looks like it might be the bronze version. And if it's still around next time I'm in the area, I may go check it out. I have the black version.

I have the black cast iron version - Wilbur 'helped' me break the whole bobbin area... I told him to rock the wheel while I oiled - he gave a really good yank and parts broke and flew everywhere. Next time he gets to oil.

The cast iron ones are relatively common. The bronze ones aren't. I would very much like a bronze one but would be happy with either. I'm really developing a fondness for the old Whites.
I don't know if the bronze ones were just an option of if they were a commemorative model. Any White experts know anything more about these machines?
