and my goal is to one day do the actual quilting on it...not just piecing. I have NOT mastered machine quilting on an electric machine yet either. I'm going to a get together later this month and thought it would be fun to make something to carry my mat and cutter in and give me a chance to try quilting on the treadle. Its not good but it does seem easier than on the emachine. First the quilting and then a pic of the whole thing.

Looking good so far! Practice, practice, practice! I tried using my DM's treadle last winter(that I learned how to sew on so many yrs. ago) and it's funny how much you forget over 50 yrs.,lol! She's quite the pro on it & I know it takes practice!

Picked up my husband's grandmothers Antique Singer Treadle machine last weekend. I inhereted after my MIL passed away. It has been sitting in her house and not used for many years. Bob, who cleaned her (Kate is what I am calling her) and put a new belt on told me she is in very good condition. He then showed me how to use the treadle. Duh........I will need some time to learn how to run it so it does not go back and forth and back and forth. I can't wait to start using Kate. She is at our cottage and we do not get there very often. I am very happy to have her ready to use!!

    Looking good!!!!

But it does take practice to get used to the whole process on a treadle. But Since that is what I learned to sew on and still use exclusively I think it getting the hang of me!!

    Keep up the good work!

Well Try getting hit in the head with an ICE STORM that turns off all Electric Power for everyone for 2 weeks More for some. The computer won't work and your E Machines won't work But AHH, The Treadle does Work and very well too, Give her a shot of oil and wow, you do learn to piece , quilt whatever. It is amazing what it will teach you and Great Granny did it all the time!!!
