I answered you. Look up ^. Here's a thread I did about the one I brought back to life.

As I said above this has become one of my favorite machines.

Lara ... that 1950 is a model 99. I'd scoop him up in heart beat as well.

You sure that's crinkle? Looked like it was just filthy to me ... I see a "shadow" of a center bed decal and I didn't think they put those on the crinkles.

Yep, I'm sure. All three of my 66-18s have the bed decal too.

Sue,

Here's one of my 66-18s.

You can see the bed decal clearly.

Joe, I have seen 'fixed' Rocketeers, and I just loved them. From the picture, it looks like it works. I emailed the guy about it being rust or dirt, and whether or not it actually works. Don't know if he'll respond -- he did give his phone number. I will give him a call tomorrow (it isn't terribly late, but you never know when a family might be eating supper).

Surely the faceplate (That is why it didn't look 'quite right'!) will be with it, right?

oh, I want! I want!! lol

Joe, your 'rescue report' is loading now!! (dial up!) I am SO going -- yes, my broke self said *going* -- to GET that machine! Tax dollars are coming, I am going to get them all . . . bah ha ha!!

Now, I have the motivation I need to start working on the Stylists that my friend Dennis is hoping I can smooth out. One was both rusted *and* mildewed, so . . . No idea what I have gotten myself into!

I used these boards to learn how to make sure my 158.17600 was 'ok'. It had a terrible squeak, now GONE!! =))
So - I will look that those tomorrow, and call that guy tomorrow too. Oh, I want the others too! mmmm!!

cheaper than a new one, with all of the 'features'!!

wow - Joe! your 66 is amazing! hard to believe the link I shared is the same machine, isn't it? He ought to come down from forty, for not having a cabinet, lol!!

I have emailed these guys, to find out if they are 'needled' and if they have any other info . . . Man, that tax refund should drop any day . . i'm gonna go buying! ;0))

If the Rocketeer doesn't have the face plate, should I pass?

Gotcha ... have to admit I've never looked at the crinkles closely. when I saw the shadow of the decal I thought it was just "filth" Wouldn't be the first time we saw a machine that looked like Farmer Brown dug it up in the spring tilling.

Lara,

I got the parts for my 500 from my LSMG. He's got an attic full of machines, some of them donor machines.
My machine did not come with the face plate. If your dial up loaded my other thread you'll see the parts I had to replace to put it back in operation. Mostly peripheral parts, nothing but one screw internal. They can be had, but what the cost would be or where to suggest you start looking other than the LSMG is only a guess.

Sue,
The before pics of my last two 66s show them to look a lot like the one Lara posted the link to. That crinkle paint grabs and holds dust like you wouldn't believe. However it cleans up fairly easy. All I used to clean them is cotton balls, machine oil and in some places a tooth brush.

Love those machines.
