Talking sewing Machines - Vintage/Antique

I own a vintage "Universal" sewing machine, serial number UN551395K
Can anybody tell me what is the manufacture year and country of this product?
Thanks,
Natalie

That name was used by a LOT of companies.

If you can post three pictures we can probably help
1. A picture of the brass badge
2. A picture of the underside of the head
3. A picture of the needle plate area

Most likely it is a Japanese import from the 50's, but those pics will help

It looks like a Japanese 15 - I've seen several. I love them. BUT I've not seen one on a treadle.

Welcome! I love the treadle it came with and the fact it has Universal cast in it. From here it looks like a Japanese 15 clone from after WWII. Sometimes there would be the maker's name underneath the machine or a JA number that can be used to track down the manufacturer, not always though.

I worked on two recently, neither had a JA number, but one was stamped Diamond and the other Sanshin.
