Another Turquoise machine, this one has issues
...another one found its way home yesterday, this is a full sized Class 15 clone and it has some issues. (My daughter fell in love with the 3/4 that I got a couple weeks ago, so one of them will go to her eventually...well, maybe)
....everything moves slow as molasses ...my gut reaction is they have used the wrong oil on her at some time...even the pressure foot, when you put the lever down it kind of "sinks" down at its own speed, and the dogs won't drop either. Nothing looks abused or broken, just ignored and gummed up, not very linty either.
I haven't tried sewing with her, the motor works and everything turns so we brought her home knowing that we could fix her.
being rather new at this...should I try oiling her up with sewing machine oil to see if that will loosen her up OR would that be adding insult to injury and should we go at her with kerosene (or another product) to clean off whatever is gumming her up after he blows her out with the compressor?
a couple of places on the cabinet the varnish has bubbled like she has been sitting next to a heat vent/stove/strong sunlight - not sure if that would have any effect on the gumminess?

Pretty machine! 
My suggestion is to go to You Tube and do a search for MuvandFarve , Muv has done some excellent videos on cleaning up these old girls without having to tear them down to the bones.
Heat (from say, a blowdryer) should loosen up the old oil, and according to Miriam, "Triflow" is wonderful stuff that she's used to loosen up and oil her machines.

Thanks everyone, they sure are pretty but my hubby is getting tired of them sitting in the middle of the kitchen! LOL
I have bookmarked Muvand Farves vid's but haven't gone through them all just yet, I'm hoping this one won't need a complete teardown, will try the heat first and look for the Triflow if we need it - Thanks Charlee!

There was another one came up on Kijiji yesterday but...I am just not ready to drive to Toronto for a sewing machine...well, I would for a 301 or a rocketeer at a good price LOL

I just bought a teal Singer model # Ex679090 from a thrift store. It is belt driven and may need a new one, it looks a little dry rotted, I can't find out anything as to date or what kind it is and I don't know how to post a picture. She is badged with a small red S for singer on the front right. It has only about a 12'' bed but it is a heavy little thing. She needs a good cleaning but the motor runs and she seems in good shape except I'll need a bobbin case and the outside half of the face plate. I got her really che-e-e-p, so I hope she is going to work well for me. If anyone can give me any info by my discription. What ever winds up being wrong with her, I just couldn't bear to leave her in that thrift store.
If anyone can help date her or give me more info I wiuld appreciate it.
