Default Singer 9W dating

I've recently run across a Singer 9w (I think-it looks like the one on ismacs) with a serial number of 3161473. I've been told it dates from the 1870's, but nothing I'm finding online backs that up. But nothing I'm finding online tells me when it might actually be from, either. Any of the serial number charts that I'm finding tell me it's from "1900-". Well, yes, I suspected as much >.< All I remember is that there's some murkiness around Singer's merge with W&W, which is what I think I'm seeing evidence of.

So, (hoping your google-fu is better than mine this morning) based on the serial number (unfortunately, I don't have pics, although I may be able to get one in a day or so), can anyone tell me A: Is it a Singer 9w? and B: When (approximately) does it date to?

The Singer 9W and 9W-7 were made between 1909 and 1913. They are the Singer version of the Wheeler and Wilson 9D. Singer bought W&W out and continued making the 9D with a few minor changes.

They are excellent machines but do take a obosolete needle, the 127-1. You can substitute the MY1014B industrial needle with excellent results. And some of them take a very hard to find doughnut bobbin. The others use the same bobbin as the Featherweights. My two sew beautifully.

Here is some pics of my 9W-7:

Bot of mine use the Featherweight type bobbins. The earlier ones use a bobbin actually shaped like a doughnut.
