Default Singer Puzzle Box question

A friend of mine has blundered into a Singer Puzzle Box, along with a Pheasant Decal class 15 in a nice treadle cabinet. She has the original manuals for both the machine and the attachments. Also, the strange (to me) white toothpick looking thing.

Can anyone tell me how unusual this thing is (and what the toothpick looking thing is)? It looks like an original manual is hard to find and I think, from the pics, that the box is cherry.

Thanks for any info I can pass along to her.

Very nice score. The puzzle boxes usually have pieces missing, especially the screwdrivers and stilettos. Also most that I have seen are for the 27s, not many for the 15s.

I would love to have a scan of that manual.

I'm thinking the toothpick thing could possibly be for bobbin lace or a point turner, it could also be used as a stiletto. I put in "bone bodkin" in an image search and several came up as similar looking. I personally think of a bodkin as having a hole to thread the ribbon or elastic through.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Thank you, Janey. I thought the 15 was unusual. I'll see if I can get a scan and upload it.

Edit to add; Yep, a bone bodkin it certainly seems to be. I guess I have something else to learn about. I thought it looked like bone or ivory.
