Singer Motor upgrade
Hi everyone!
I've got a singer 15-91 and I love it! It has the potted motor in it and it does a pretty good job. It struggles with some of my projects though and Industrial machines are pricey. Just wondering if anyone knows of an upgraded replacement motor for the 15-91. Looking for a 1.5 amp. Thanks!

Have you serviced the existing motor? I'm guessing there are videos on how to along with other threads on this forum.
I take them apart, remove the residue from the windings and inside the motor, wash it down with CRC QD electronic cleaner, relube, etc. Disclaimer: I've not watched a video on it nor researched in this forum, so I could be doing it incorrectly, but the motors seem to run stronger when I'm through.

I have serviced virtually everything on the machine when I acquired it. Although I'm not experienced in servicing motors so it's possible it could use some more love. I would prefer to find a more powerful, new potted motor for the machine.

Here's an older thread on the potted motor, look at the last post especially.

One final thought (I promise), if you describe your projects people on this forum may be able to help guide you to a different machine or provide thoughts on the applicability of a 15-91 to those projects.
I have received very helpful replies to the several questions or problems I have posted.

I purchased a Singer 201K from the United Kingdom, but didn't want to use an electrical converter on the machine. My husband replaced the European 220 volt motor with a new 120 volt Alphasew motor from Central Michigan Sewing Supplies for about $39. It was very easy to make the change and now I don't need the European converter. Here's the link:
