Default Singer Motor upgrade

Hi everyone!
I've got a singer 15-91 and I love it! It has the potted motor in it and it does a pretty good job. It struggles with some of my projects though and Industrial machines are pricey. Just wondering if anyone knows of an upgraded replacement motor for the 15-91. Looking for a 1.5 amp. Thanks!

Have you serviced the existing motor? I'm guessing there are videos on how to along with other threads on this forum.

I take them apart, remove the residue from the windings and inside the motor, wash it down with CRC QD electronic cleaner, relube, etc. Disclaimer: I've not watched a video on it nor researched in this forum, so I could be doing it incorrectly, but the motors seem to run stronger when I'm through.

I have serviced virtually everything on the machine when I acquired it. Although I'm not experienced in servicing motors so it's possible it could use some more love. I would prefer to find a more powerful, new potted motor for the machine.

I've seen refurbished potted motors on ebay. I don't know about actual amperage upgrades to those motors.

Yeah I've seen them, it just seems there aren't many if any, upgrades done to the potted motors. I will keep searching though!

Here's an older thread on the potted motor, look at the last post especially.

Motor gone bad on Singer 15 91

I've purchased brushes from https://www.vintagesingerparts.com

Thank you this was helpful. I replaced the brushes already as well as the wicks. I don’t really think there is anything wrong with the motor, I would just like a motor that’s a little more powerful without having to buy a different machine.

One final thought (I promise), if you describe your projects people on this forum may be able to help guide you to a different machine or provide thoughts on the applicability of a 15-91 to those projects.

I have received very helpful replies to the several questions or problems I have posted.

I would be considering going to a belt driven 15 and a bigger motor. May be a whole lot easer. or switching hand wheels on your 15-91 to a belt drive. Not that I have done it.

I purchased a Singer 201K from the United Kingdom, but didn't want to use an electrical converter on the machine. My husband replaced the European 220 volt motor with a new 120 volt Alphasew motor from Central Michigan Sewing Supplies for about $39. It was very easy to make the change and now I don't need the European converter. Here's the link:
