Default 306K Ok, I give up!!

Went to Goodwill, found a Singer 306K for $17.50 in grass straw case. Machine is in pretty good shape, with all her parts...EXCEPT needle(S). I ordered needles and they arrived yesterday. The same as any of my regular machines use.
OK...I have read that this machine takes a longer needle or a shorter needle. Help! Which is it? and since the company I ordered from apparently didn't know either, where do I find the right needle for this machine? One of the reviews that I read said that this is one of the machines that is best forgoten. That seemed a little harsh.
So, Please, if anyone has any info in this little orphen(sp), can you give me a hand. We are sinking fast. Really...this thing weights 25 lbs! LOL

The 306 machines take the 206-13 needles.

They are the same length shank end to the eye, but the 206 needles have a shorter point. The standard 15x1 needles can in some machines severely damage the bobbin case due to the extra length.

The 206-13 needles are still available from several places, here's one:

That is where we got the needles for my wife's 319K.

You can also substitute the 16x231 needles but they are round shank so you really have to align them carefully.
We have some of those too and they work just fine.

Here's a blog entry with more info:

Oh and yeah, these machines are not machines to be given up on. Far from it. They are good machines that just need the proper needles to do their work.

Order in some 206-13s from All Brands and start sewing.

Thanks Joe. That really helped a lot! I love all my machines and want to sew on each and everyone of them. Hope you can get to 'sewing' on yours. LOL

Glenda,
I think I recall reading on the Vintage Singer yahoo group that the 306K uses regular needles. Join the group and ask lots of questions of the members.
