LOL I missed that one... They aren't selling worth a darn here anyway... I just keep buying them... might have to add on to the house or something... I bought a 301 tonight. The thing was all balled up and the bobbin area was totally jammed and the feed dogs weren't coming up... The lady wanted an arm and a leg because she saw what the others were listed for... OH the topper - it was her grandma's. Her daughter wants to take fashion design in college so she is selling the 301 to go buy a $69 machine at Walmart.

I apologize in advance for where my "tinkerer" mind goes....

If you lined the insides of the opening with firebrick it could double as a hearth.....

There was one seller on UK ebay who used to post pictures of his/her black domestic Singer sewing machines sewing through flattened soft drinks cans to show how "heavy duty" they were!!!

you know that not only are there a ton of machines on Indianapolis CL, there are also a ton at GW. And to rub salt into an open wound, the GW store there WON'T SHIP.
so I always see machines I want, and can't get.

I would think that a little clean up might go a long way in increasing the appeal of these:

That's almost as bad as the one that I saw at an antique store. It was a treadle, and as usual, I was snooping in the drawers. In one of them, there was a bunch of wool, and rodent crap. Tons of it. I was right cheesed off. Here's your antique sewing machine with a side of Hantavirus. What are people thinking?

maybe the machine was in the antique store a long time - store has a problem with creatures?

at least they aren't asking a huge amount of money for this antique but still over priced for a machine that needs "some" TLC. I can't figure out if it's a bad paint job or there's also mold

Well its a Wheeler Wilson and I would never do this to one of those, but at least this one is done rather tastefully. It isn't the ugliest thing I've ever seen...though I would still prefer the original condition. This is the same cabinet I have.
