I too, am always running out of room. Stacking is the only way to go. Here's the end of my sewing room. The credenza/ shelves (plus 3 on the floor) are holding 21 machines equaling the foot print of two cabinets.

I have a couple of those Ikea bookcase cubes stacked on top of each other, they hold machines and books, then most of the 5 cabinets in the room have one machine on top of them. One of the cabinets is empty, so I can drop the full sized machine of my choice into it for use.
One machine isn't a big deal to move if you want what's under it. Then there are 2 plastic free standing shelves in the closet, they've held up to 8 machines apiece at one point, but mostly it's tools and batting and such these days.
At the moment, I'm down 12 machines from my worst, so it's downright roomy in there.
I'm still wanting to liquidate another 10, then it's very special machines only that I'd like to add.I'm going to rearrange (again) though. My work bench is claustrophobic, and poorly lit, so changes must be made. Once that happens, I'll post some up to date pics.
