The 319 and 306 both take the "newer" flat cams; there are lots of them out there!!

That is great! I will keep an eye out for one of them.

I get the impression that this guy thought his modern machine was gear driven and was looking for a way to by-pass that, but discovered after taking off the side plate around the wheel that it had a belt. So, I was wondering if the Rocketeer had similar setup. If so and this could be done with the Rocketeer, then my next question is the clearance for the treadle belt since a portion of the base protrudes out from the machine.

I love his "vegan" belt. I like his ingenuity. And as he stated, he is able to used it on wheels that if a leather treadle belt were to be used they would not work, but the "vegan" belt gives him the friction to keep it from slipping off.

I'm pretty sure it would work. I'm using some right now as a door latch. I use them for everything except for clothing!

I should have used my vintage machine, but NOooooo, I had the new fancy schmancy machine set up, so I tried to hem my son's jeans with it.
What a princess! and I don't mean that in a good way. As soon as the seam got to the big hump - where the seam and the previous hem overlapped, she balked - big time. Broke the needle twice. Ended up hand cranking it through the hard part - and that was with the walking foot engaged.
Dang computers!
My vintage would have blazed the trail with no problem. At least I know for next time.
