I am way behind in reading posts, but just in case someone else hasn't answered this, it's a Singer 24 chain stitch machine. I have one just like it (minus the green paint), but they are not that easy to find. This one looks to be in really good condition--except for the paint!!

Its a Singer model 24 and if that is the right cabinet that came with the machine it is worth a chunk of change!

Billy
I have no idea if it's the right cabinet or not. Is it actually a treadle? I couldn't tell by the pic for sure.
Yes, it is in the right cabinet.

Thanks everyone for the comments on the 319W. Not sure if all the 319 machines are the same, but mine says 319W on the front of the machine, so I am pretty sure what it is. Just FYI, though, even the sewing machine parts houses online are conflicting about the bobbin case for this machine. 173058 is the only one that will work in my machine. There is a little peg at about 5 oclock inside the bobbin race, and this one has a notch and is enclosesd circle, forcing the user to use the 206x13 needle, that will work. The online stores offer one that is 105032 that does not have the notch in it at the 5 oclock point, and has the top cut away for a regular 15x1 to clear. I didn't try to cut the 5 oclock notch when this one came in the mail first, I just waited for the one with the original number and 203x16 needles to come in and try, with great success. I like to put the machines back in their most original state, so I had wanted to do it that way anyway. Either way, it is a cool machine. I downloaded the 111 page book, and it tries convincing the owner that it is a simple machine to use, but I would have to refer to the book often to change the stitch patterns. So many options it is crazy, but that is what makes it neat.

I had it at my house for a long time, then due to space limits, I took her back to my sister's (who swears Mama gave it to her...but she did NOT!) Anyway, my sister doesn't have a clue...it's sitting in her garage. So my question is...should I get her back and research her. Is she old enough to be considered an antique? If I remember correctly, she is a gray color. it sounds like your home would be a good place for the machine to live. that said, NOTHING is worth causing a family riff. ive seen a couple of very nice families "go to war" over "stuff". if sis is adamant that it is hers, move on. maybe she will see the light when she sees your other machines and how you care fore/use them. just my 2 cents.
I like your response and agree with you. There are other cool machines out there to adopt. Go for your own machine. Have fun hunting!

Monica, did you redo this treadle and cabinet? It sure looks great!

Nancy
Nope! It came that way. I picked up the cabinet for my Singer 201k since I thought the 201 would look striking sitting in a straight-leg cabinet. The machine that came with this cabinet is my Singer RAF 15-90 that sits on my shelf. Well, the 201 didn't stay in that cabinet very long. I didn't like the feel or sound of the straight-leg treadle with the 201, too noisy. Then I picked up my National Two Spools and my DH changed out the front plate for the Two Spools to sit in the cabinet. Most of the time I don't do too much in refurbishing the cabinets. Some of the history is there that I would like to keep, just don't want to mess with it either, unless the cabinet needs a good cleaning. Here is a picture of the top now.

:) Another member told me about you So I would like to know if you might have a slide plate for a 201-2 or can another slide plate fit the 201-2? I do not want a new one Thanks bannie

That's one style. I also have one with wooden rather than metal legs. I found the base with metal legs too small to sit at comfortably.
