It is a little noisey but I think it may just need to be oiled. I need a throat plate for it. I have plently of bobbins that will fit, but no plate to cover them. It seems to be clean but have not checked it out yet. Have a wonderful day. Kathie
Kathie, Is your new SM a Singer or a different manufacturer?
It is a Singer. The Lettering is somewhat faded but it does say Singer. I am excited about it. The machine came in a portable cabinet and when you put the top on it locks. The only problem being is there is no key. You need a screwdriver to open it. Kathie
You must think that I'm a little off in the head... or just to lazy to read. I am not sure how I missed "Singer - knee peddle" ... Would you happen to have a Singer Blackside? That would be a great bonus! You can find a replacement key and I am sure Billy might even have a throat plate. Hope you can post pictures sometime.

Billy
Billy I want you to find me a FW for $30! I have never seen one for under $250, anywhere around here!

I'm with Nancy, I want a FW for $30. also!! Heck, I'll even go $50!

I have one of those signs (all individual letters) that will be put onto my edition of my studio. My studio will be a replica of a late 40's to early 50's Singer store front complete with the huge windows for display.

Billy
Billy that store front will look really good, but you have more than just Singers?

I have a huge box of attachments - I may have the ruffler I want, though I'd rather have one for the 301. Two wooden boxes of needles. They are 1/4" longer that a 15x1.
Judy, I can't wait to see pictures of the Leader. You said she is tiny - is the Leader a 3/4 size machine? Yes, the Boye 4 needles are longer than the Schmetz 15x1. Congratulations on finally getting the Leader home!

Kathie, what Model Singer? A 99?

Nancy
Yes Nancy it is a 99. I have a question for you. I did oil it very good and everywhere that there was a hole. It is a noisy machine is that normal?

No, it shouldn't be noisy. Did you clean it really good, take off the throat plate, oil everything and grease the motor? There might be hardened grease in the motor or gears.
