Okay since I cant do anything but play on my laptop and Cell Phone I have been looking around for sewing machines and I am working a deal on a couple of them and this is one of them. I should have it tomorrow evening when my friend is able to go get it for me.

This one is a very early machine......like around the 1840's

l have read and enjoyed being in this group l love looking for my vintage machines and cleaning and sewing on them l haven't got room for any more at the moment til l re organize
my arrangement and finish cleaning one machine my GREEN WITH ENVY 319K that's its name l fell into that one but it is in very good order but for Aus$31.50 l could not resist and now l am the proud owner of the feather weight 222K so to cut a long story short this group maks my day THANK YOU BILLIE AND EVERY ONE

I have read all the pages but I'm anal/compulsive/what have you that way and this shop is my escape from reality. :) Also, as a result of being on here, I have acquired approximately 11 vintage machines.

I have read up to 901, been keeping up with it daily. There
is lots of good information here and lots of lovely machines
pictured.
Billy I hope you feel better soon, I had what you have from Christmas to nearly February, it turned into brochitis for me.

I've read every page. I like seeing all the vintage machines, though at the moment I'm not collecting. Five is enough.

Agreed. This site is bugged, and we've all caught it. Started off with a simple family machine, and an old relic of a treadle base someone dragged home as ornamentation. Then I needed to add a machine to the base. Then I got a donation of 5 vintage beauties which had been classroom machines. I had them serviced, on the donors nickel.

THEN, this segment of the board starts, and I realize how simple and inexpensive it would have been to just clean them myself. (One still needed professional work because of an electrical current leak.) The guild got me interested in having a featherweight, then things began to blossom. My little students have mixed emotions about using the old ladies. Some think it's pretty cool. I think the boys like the treadle technology more so than the girls. We'll be getting a new 4-H center in July, and I can start reclaiming my house. (Translation = add to MY collection without attracting hubbies attention.)

They haven't seen the pristine Taiwanese clone yet. I'm sure it'll get their attention. I do want to put it in a table. I'd still like some feed back on applying decals to the unadorned. I wouldn't want to impersonate a special model, but perhaps some motorcycle flames or garden flowers. Most of my kids are between 10 & 15. Once they learn some basic skills, then I set them up with a more modern machine that they can sign out and take home. More donations and Goodwill machines.

I have read every page and started at the beginning as it progressed. I have learned so much about the workings of the machines and now I'm not afraid to dig in and really refurbish one. I love history and research too and of course all the photos of the oldies, both before and after. Thanks Billy, for starting this great thread.

I have to admit I have not read all 901, but probably about 700 or so. I have learned so much, I can now go into our local thrift shops and know a machine by sight!! I even impress myself sometimes!! Haha----not likely!!! You guys make me feel like I'm still in kindergarten, but that's why I love it here...I get to learn all kinds of grea things about these wonderful gorgeous machines.
