Okay I am a happy camper today, I finally got to work on some machines today!!! And I got to play with my 328K for a little bit and I found out why it can go into a treadle. The bed on the regular Singer machines ate 14 1/2" and the 328K is like the Slant Shank machines and the bed measures 16 1/2". You have to take out the plate that the belt goes through and helps support the machine when you raise and lower it into the treadle. I will have to make another plate for my bench to use it in my treadle but it will work beautifully. :D

I removed all of the cords, pedal, the motor but kept the light so if I decide to put a cord on it I can and have a light on my machine. But I know I can not live with the blah grey color it is so I am going to paint it a Candy Brandywine ;)

I sent you some photos of the 201 that fell into my car today. How can you tell if it's a potted motor? The faceplate is scrolled. Anne

Okay DH's Singer 503A he got me today is having problems with the feed dogs. Even though the lever is where it to be for straight stitch, the foot does not not touch the feed dogs to move the fabric. Is this something I can fix or do I have to bite the bullet and haul it to the sew & vac guy? What am I looking for?

I have a 500 and the wiring to the light is toast. Is that something that is fixable? My husband doesn't think it's a job he can tackle. He will change the plug and cord on it as that is worn.

Lovely 201. It's a potted motor if it's enclosed in a 'pot' (like yours!) and mounted up high off the back of the machine. It's got to be for the 201s, because a gear comes directly off the motor and into the drive shaft, with no belt whatsoever. It's a gear driven machine. The belt driven machines (not 201s...) have external motors that sit on the base behind the tower, and a belt connects them to the drive shaft.

Billy, good to see you in the shop again. Did you say you got a Sears Kenmore? If so, what model is it? I may have parts for you.

That's a great 201 with a potted motor. Wish something like that would fall into my car. :-)
