This one is in the Que. Big cave event coming up, quilt retreat, and our guild quilt show in October. I hope to have several other vintage ladies for display at the quilt show. Space inside is precious now, and it's too hot to work outside. I'll squeeze in a little cleaning, but I want to do the repairs properly, and that will take scheduling it in.

Here is a picture of the aforementioned 66 Red Eye I picked up the other day. I was a bit disappointed when I saw it, as it was worse that the pics on Craiglist. But it will be fun and educational to do the best I can on it. It is missing a few parts (bobbin case, plate, upper thread spool) and many of the decals are silvered.

It has been used, and not too well loved, but you will love it and learn from it, and it is still a wonderful machine. Evaporust (from Harbor Frieght) will clean the rust off that faceplate and any other plain metal surface.

Olebat, geeze the first photo of the complete machine doesn't look bad at all. But, the photo of the closeup with the knobs for reverse, stitch length look terrible? Are you sure that is from the same machine? In the complete photo those knobs appear to be whole? Anyway, good luck with the White - those machines are such tanks that not much can hurt them, although, I don't believe I have seen one with the knobs in the shape yours are in?

I am meeting a lady tomorrow to pick up a Two Spools (machine only) with attachments and the manual. She had advertized the attachments and manual on Craigslist a couple weeks ago. I contacted her about them - the owner's were on their way out of town for a couple weeks - anyway, she also said she has the machine. The machine belonged to her Aunt, whom she spent summers with. The aunt taught her to sew on that Two Spools. She had it shipped out here from back east when the aunt passed. When the machine arrived the cabinet was toast - crushed during shipment! She wants someone to get the machine that will take care of her! Monica, you always say we need two of each machine we use so we have a parts machine! Well, I doubt this machine will ever be for parts, but I will have two Two Spools since that is my piecing machine!

Yep, Nancy, same machine. I'm trying to get it closed now, and can't get it to fold back down. Cabinet looked OK because things were sort of in place, but the wood is dry, it wasn't screwed or nailed together, only glue, which is now long gone in some areas. As I began to close it, things shifted. It's gonna be a two person job. DH worked late shift last night, so he's still sleeping. He won't like helping on this one . . . says I have too many machines . . .

It'll be better when the new 4-H center opens and most of the machines go there, then I'll just have a few treadles and a couple of my favs in the vintage line.

I have a question for everyone. I took in my Singer 201 that I posted here a few days ago to get refurbished. The man told me he might just get a cover for the wire in the back cuz he doesn't know if he can re-wire the motor and hes putting in a new foot pedal. Does this sound right? I called another guy and he said since it's in the cabinet he wouldn't even worry about the wiring that it should be safe cuz the wire isn't out in the open???? Should I be concerned? I thought they would just re-wire it so I could be done with it...
