Billy you know I would welcome the visit. There is a whole line up of treadles in the garage that need to have veneer replaced. We could start an assembly line! :P

Cool ads Billy. Too bad those prices are no longer in effect!

I love those old ads, thanks for sharing Billy!!

Lisa...veneer isn't all that hard..did you know you can get an iron on veneer? It's pretty cool stuff...you can cut it and do "inlay" designs with it...according to my "refinishing friend", it's awesome to work with and fairly easy! I have a cabinet that I'm thinking about using it on.

Is this the machine that was drowned in oil? if so just shake the living crap out of it after warming it up with a hair drier and run it like you stole it! It will smoke and smell but it will go away eventually.

Billy
No Billy, I am the culprit. Thanks so much for your advice.

Maybe, I should send him a picture of the 500a I just got for $15 posted on page 1449!!!!!!Geeze!

Nancy
Where do these people come up with the outrageous prices for machines???

Sharon W.
I do not know. I am resisting the temptation to contact the seller and ask them what dream world they live in. That IS the most outrageously priced vintage machine I have seen... I think :?:
If you read the rest of the ad, the seller says that $1600 is not an unheard of price for the machine.
I hope he gets it... I wonder I could advertise mine on the same town - heck for that price I would ship it for free...
Sewww, you are really getting a bargain at $1200, huh? Like I said, what dream world are they living in?
Heck, I could drive one up there in my Corolla, and still come out ahead and deliver it in person for that. Even sew them a project on it while they watched!! LOL
I used to drive a maroon Corolla... '88, I think. Loved that car untl my boys trashed it. They owe me, don't they?

I did write this person and asked him to reconsider his pricing. I told him that I just bought the same Rockeeter for $30.[/quote]

Oh please, do let us know if he replies!

Nope. I knew better than to do that! It runs fine, so I won't mess with it! I really don't want to do any rewiring of anything. Now that 500 I got for $10 is just a gooey mess inside. I want to clean it out, but am not sure of the solvent that is best on that. Will I have to remove the motor to get the gunk out? I see them for sale on ebay or on youtube and they look like they just came out of the factory inside. How do I achieve even half of that? I have no problem with the really old ones, just these.
