I'm pretty sure I read on here that machines can be treadles if they have the groove in the hand wheel for the belt. If it doesn't have a groove it can't be treadled? I have a 66 in a treadle base, but I can't get the belt to stay on....I don't believe there is a groove in the wheel. Was this once an electric (I have an electric that runs great)? Are the hand wheels interchangeable...can I even try to make this machine work??

I have a Necchi-Alco as well; mine is a Japanese class 15.

Go; you'll have a wonderful time. I would love to attend this one sometime, but once school starts up, my TOGA days are over--I can only make the summer ones!!

It looks like a German-made machine, but I can't quite figure out which!!
Here are a few photos of the aforementioned mystery Empira machine. It seems to be moving freely and smoothly. I just have to reattach the belt.
Has anyone heard of this machine? I have looked all over on the web and have found nothing, spare a quote on Google books about a lawsuit involving an Empira Sewing Machine Company!
