Perhaps you could get someone to build you a base. My DH (who is NOT a carpenter) built one for my Singer 99 and it works great. There are even plans available online for these bases.

Either way Valerie told me to stay inside and rest all weekend and hopefully I can make it until Monday when I see my Rhuematologist. :( :( :(

Anyway I have the link to event and here is a link to the auction list for some of the machines that are being sold there. I wanted to go because there are 2 machines that I wanted to bid on.

Just click on the auction catalog and be sure to put a bib on!!

Nice machines, aren't they? Posted this a couple of weeks ago, but good that you reposted for those who might have missed it! :)

Glenn, Very nice work of the sewing machine case. The machine turned out really pretty too! They look good together the machine must really be proud to be in a case such at that.

Billy, I'm sorry you missed the convention. I'm almost 100% certain they are taking phone bids on the auction machines. I can look back through my emails to be sure, if you would want to bid that way.

Oh dear...another little orphan with big eyes wants to come home with me. It's in so-so shape, the treadle cabinet was stripped of paint (the shop owner said) and oiled. It's a little wobbly, the works are a little gummy, there is one brace missing on one of the drawers. The handle is missing from the cover, and there isn't a key. There are no accessories.

But...it has the shuttle, it runs (gummy, but runs). It's just too darn cute. Serial F3196399, a 128k out of Clydebank, 120,000 allotted, date late 1912.

Really waffling on this one! Shop asking price is $75.

Dark phone pic, but you get the idea.

Go ahead and get it Bennett. I haven't been able to find a cabinet like that for any of my machines.

So that sad looking machine is in my kitchen now. $5 for the machine and a shoebox of miscellaneous parts. Some of them are attachments that I recognize, like the ruffler, others are various plates for other machines, some odd wheel cogs, and some sort of side plate that I don't recognize. Here's a photo of the old girl, serial number B146995: a 27-4, with 10,000 allotted on Jan. 2, 1904 in Elizabethport, NJ.

Does anyone know what these parts are?

Or should I find a repair shop to do the repairs?
Yes it is easy. There will be instructions with the new ones. Either control will work, but you can ask them which one they would recommend. Check the rest of the wiring and make sure you cannot see any cracks that show copper, and you will just have to open the bottom of the new controllers and screw wire on two places and replace cover. If your current wiring is bad you may can buy the controller already wired with a new plug that will fit your machine. I have done this many times with success. I like the machines though. The older singers are neat, but I grew up sewing on an un-singer, so I like them a lot. Pretty color.
