Ok I just watched a very handsome, young, thin man with a mustache and a big smile threadle his Singer 319! WOW! I want one - I am now on the hunt for a 319! Glenn, you are right the 'clip' you sent me is very short, but WOW it looks like so much fun to treadle a machine that does decorative stitches! What year is your 319? That machine sounds so smooth running!

Thank you!

Nancy
I had to pull out my medicare card to make sure you were watching the right clip  I think if I remember correctly I dated it to 1964. I don't have all the flat cams for it yet but have not really looked for them. With the one I have and the keys I can do many stitches. It is a great machine to sew with.
I wanna see!!!
Ok, Charlee coming your way
Glenn
Thanks Skip! :)
I'm with Nancy...pretty handsome young fella in that clip!! :)
Thanks guys you make this old man feel good

You can get the 15 unstuck!!! Just don't try to dis-assemble the whole thing. Have him watch Muv's videos. It is so much easier!
OK...will do.

ACK! It's not there YET??? I'd be pacing...thumping my fingers...pacing...eating....pacing...
Tracking with USPS says it should be here tomorrow. I was hoping for today, but it didn't make it from the main sorting PO here to our local PO, so, 1 more day!! I'm excited!!!! I got the boat shuttle, a bobbin and some needles off of eBay, and I can't wait to try it!!

better. I also use metal bobbin on my 221-1 singer.
What did you think?
Read your manual and check the manufacturer specs. If your newer machine came with plastic bobbins that's what you should use. Most newer machines have plastic bobbin cases and metal bobbins will cut through them over time and you'll likely have a nice little repair bill. Don't use metal if you're not supposed to. Of course, your Singer was manufactured to use metal ones.

As to the previous conversation about 15 clones, there are actually several on the Shopgoodwill.com site today.

Forgot to attach the pictures. this is a needle turn, hand quilted quilt 65 x 70". Took about a year to do. I got so tired of looking at it. No more large quilts for me.

Texas Jan
Ohhhhhh Jan,

That is a work of art.

What does needle turn mean?
Needle turn is where you turn the raw edge of the applique piece under itself and stitch it to the background fabric by hand. No stitching shows on top at all.

OK, I confess (raising hand!!) I'm the chair for our guild's quilt show in January 2012. But I have tons of help, and I was very involved the last 2 shows, so I am pretty confident we'll do OK.
My hat is surely off to you!!
