Charlee, I just tried to PM you and can't get through. You have used up all of your available space and need to delete some. Just thought I'd let you know. Just how many messages are we allowed anyway?

Well, yall are giving me the fever for another sewing machine, with all your nice new pretties, and fixer-uppers. I hope Miriam can teach us all something after class is over. There is an estate sale I will be driving by in the morning on my paper route.....hope there is something good, reasonably priced. Maybe that will cure the fever. Until I find another one I like. I have an open offer on one like your new one, Charlee, for $20 (her price) in a queen anne cabinet, with almost all the attachments. I guess I may call the lady up soon.......

Linda, those bowls are beautiful. Your Hubby is very talented.

Candace, thanks for the tutorial on the flat spot of the elna. I have one that needs the same work done to it. Also have another white elna with a plastic storage box but never thought about it going under the machine (dah). After I saw yours I went right in and put it where it belongs.

Charlee, like the looks of your new machine too. It doesn't pay to say I have no more room because those little machines like to follow us home any way.

Candace, how did you discover that the problem was a flat spot on the pulley? Geeze, I watched you sewing - it sounds great. I also went to the tute you made - great job! Thank you! Great information for the rest of us. I don't have an Elna, but who knows I may find one someday and this information is great to have!

Wow, that was interesting to say the least. I do have some of that viscose - which, I am going to toss after reading that article. It is just not worth it to pay the prices we pay for high quality quilting fabric, do all the work, then go with inferior thread!

Nancy, these green, vintage Elnas have one Achilles heel and it's the pulley. If it sounds loud, like a jackhammer and vibrates all over, it's the pulley. An easy diagnosis and I had thought a somewhat PITA fix. 90% of any of these that one would purchase is going to have a flat spot on the pulley. It's the nature of the design of the machine.

I'm using up what I have. I paid to much to chuck it:< But, I'm sticking to poly embroidery thread when I buy any now.
