You want me to talk about my bra making that didn't get done today.

looks like a Davis, same cabinet as my VF. High price, though.
Laura, Yes, the price is too high for that machine; plus, there is no shot of the machine.

I'd just like to apologize for being one of the lurkers. I'm not a very talkative person and find it difficult to interact with others, even those I know well. I am guilty of hopping on here to ask for advice or occasionally comment on a subject under discussion. I do hope that my reticence isn't mistaken for being one of the negative lurkers. Your friendliness and willingness to share your knowledge and experience has been invaluable to me as I have acquired and restored my vintage machines. For that I am very grateful.

I see a cabinet, not a sewing machine. I've always wanted to send that message to a seller.

Your FW accessories will not fit your 301. The 301 is a slant shank/needle machine and needs its own feet. The FW is a short shank. It seems no walking foot works well with a 301 because of the size of the feeddogs. Mine does everything I want it to do without a walking foot - SITD, etc. Just back the pressure off the presser foot a bit if the quilt is thick. I do love my SITD foot, but could have lived without the 1/4" foot.

I love the pink and red machines.

I generally use walking feet on my machines, but the 301 doesn't have one one the market that fits its feed dogs correctly. Yes, they "work" but not as engineered. But, maybe give it a shot without the walking foot and reduce the pressure?
Ok, I just might try that. Thanks

It looks like someone got their panties in a knot about lurkers... Don't worry. My sister lurks too - she doesn't type much but she loves to hang out. Besides I highly doubt if QB had anything to do with it. I've seen stuff on GW or CL sell out from under me without ever being posted on QB. BTW thanks for reminding me to change out that picture of the dirty bobbin area. I knew I was suppose to put up a different pic of it but couldn't remember why. It is rather gross.

Nancy, Don't be sad. There are some things that just are going to be, like sweet lurkers and not very nice lurkers.

My mantra is this: We are only the stewards of the vintage sewing machines, somehow the machine finds us.

Those vintage green Berninas are such handsome machines. I have seen two up close; I haven't gotten to play with any. I know that someone on this board is lucky to own one, I just can't recall who does. I keep seeing those machines posted at around $500; I'll never pay that, but I will have fun dreaming and drooling from afar.
