Then I heard someone talking that there were already 3 gone and I knew you were doing o.k!!! Unlike the one gal trying to sell an older Viking for $900.....:>

I'm so glad you popped out of class when you did, because I was not planning on going behind those closed doors and interrupting your class. Looks like you had a good time and were getting Christmas projects done early!

I bought about 12 yds. of fabric for backings (from the store) and 3 spools of King Tut thread at the Barn sale. So, I found some things to bring home with me.
Geeze, I didn't realize she wanted $900 for that machine!!!!! No wonder she took it home! I bought 6 spools of the King Tut from her - still packaged/unopened thread! I am glad you had a productive day buying backing fabric too!

Never be afraid to step into the classroom! We are all having a blast in there - loud and fun - so no one cares if you come in! The quilt I was working on yesterday was really fun . . . . like I showed you, I made the whole quilt first! Next we get the Little Twister ruler and cut it all up and re-make it! A lot of work, unless you are making something really small! I will post photos when I am done! We were are talking about being off our rockers to make a quilt top then cut that top up and remake it into a different top!

Yep, I sold 5 machines! The ones I really didn't want to sell - two Singer 66's didn't sell! I was glad! Anyway, I have been doing this long enough to know which machines I can't live without and which ones can be re-homed!

It was a fun day yesterday! I doubled the money I had spent on the purchase of those machines!

I was NOT going to take that SewMor! I do think it is really cute and glad I have it now, but you could have taken it! When Rod came back to pick up the machines and table that lady carried it over to our car! She was determined I take that machine!

Oh and I sold two of the featherweights for the guy on the end! I should have gotten a commission! Fun day!

Nancy

Usually they are lost over the years. I was given just the machine and one drawer as the cabinet was falling apart and the irons were used for a table base. In the drawer was the little Hand hole cover !! I have since found another correct cabinet for this machine, and it was missing the litttle cover. I have not finished the cabinet yet, but the machine is ready to go. Really nice find !!!
The correct name for your machine is a White Rotary (without the word Family)

Oh! thank you so much for the information!

I spent all day yesterday just scrubbing and polishing the cabinet -it's in really good condition and it looks like I can just polish out the faint water rings in the shellac. I spent last night after the kids went to bed, cleaning the inside of the machine and it was REALLY REALLY clean. I couldn't get over how little dust/ lint/ oil residue was in her. Now to decide what to do about the iron.... I

love that Wilcox and Gibbs, BoJangles! What a beauty! Maybe I'll just try cleaning it first to see what they look like. Stove polish sounds like it would be a good choice. Lehmans carries it. I've never heard of Liquid Gold though - do Lowes/ Home Depot carry it?

I had a very exciting day. I had to travel over an hour each way but it was worth it! I bought a 2 delicious, coveted machines for less than the cost of a lunch. I'm so over the moon. This is just a tease until I can post pics:>

Here's machine #1 Viking 6570 Selectronic. It's in a disassembled state as I've started the rebuilding process. I will have to rebuild the buttonholer dial and dewax the old Viking lube that's locked the machine up. Luckily the worm gear and cam aren't cracked and I won't have to shell out money for that. I'm looking forward to using this one.

And here's my score for the day for only a few bucks. A Bernina 830 Record! Original case, table, tools, feet, bobbins, and knee lever. Unfortunately no foot pedal. But hey, do you think I was going to hesitate.....no!!! They aren't cheap to replace but to have a machine in this condition is a find. I lubed, oiled and checked out the machine. It looks almost pristine inside and everything seems to be in working order. I'm thrilled!! I bought both machines from the same folks and like I said before paid less than lunch for both of them. Pinch me!

Wow Laura, I never thought of shoe polish, but then everytime you dust them or rub on them won't the polish come off? I have only repainted one set of irons and it was for my Wilcox and Gibbs cabinet that someone had painted black and the irons gold! DH sand blasted the irons and we painted them black like they were originally! Liquid Gold works really well to shine up those black irons too! Here are the before and after photos - we re-did the coffin top also, but not in the shot!

Nancy
shoe polish doesn't come off- you have to put it on with a brush and then buff it with a brush, just like you do for shoes. The W and G looks lovely! Laura
