Yep, that's a 9W-7 and should use the straight sided 221 / 201 bobbins. It will use the 127x1 or MY 1014 B needles.

I have two of them. Nice machines, but the one thing I don't care for is they turn backwards of every other Singer. Once you get used to them the other Singers will bring you up short when you turn 'em the wrong way.

I haven't tried sewing with it yet, but it came with a threaded curved "bagel" bobbin just like my WW8's and regular WW9. I thought I remembered it took the straight bobbin. Will have to wait awhile to find out. Weren't some of them (the earlier ones) still using the bagel bobbin? I'm trying to recall where I read that.

Joe, No sorry no idea. I bought it at a second-hand shop and the seller's idea was to turn it into garden planter and let the flowers grow through the machine hole or put a pot of flowers into that same hole. Assuming it must be an older treadle base because of the wooden pitman rod and the coffin top. I can maybe uncover it and take pictures of the treadle for you.

Yes, I believe some of the early 9W's did use the donut bobbins. I don't know if you can use the 221 / 301 bobbins in them or not. Both of mine came with the flat sided bobbins and I don't have an example of the other one to try.

Y'all will find the humor in this. We finally made it out of the house and into town to run a few errands. I told hubby as we were driving into town that I was waiting to hear back from a lady on CL so I could go pick up a treadmill. Aside from sewing machines its the only thing I've been looking for on CL because I haven't been able to run since moving out here. Anyway, She was supposed to call me when she got home and we could swing by on the way home and pick it up. I told him I was paying 25.00 for it. A few hours later we are just about finished with our errands and she texts to say she's home. As we are heading over there Zach asks me, now how many treadles do you already have and whats so special about this one?! I think his brain automatically assumes everything I buy that isn't food is sewing related.

I'd love to see pics of it. I'll never understand some people. 50 years ago when treadles were more common using them for flower planters could be understood ... sort of. But now, I don't know.

The wooden pitman arms can be fabricated. There is a web site, (Treadle On?) that has an article on how to do it.

I saw it last weekend at the Sewing Museum garage sale and didn't buy it. It was the one I had a bit of buyers remorse about. I was going to call the next day about it, but DH went back into the hospital and I just didn't think about it again. Jenn called Thursday and said she was going back to get another load and the lady still had the 301 and was I interested. She had lowered the price, so I jumped on it. Jenn brought it to me along with the WW9 irons. The machine runs great, needs a bobbin holder and maybe a repaint. It is a 1952 Singer 301 (no A) Where the paint is worn through it is black, so either it was a repaint, or the base coat was black and then it was painted over. The "official" color is soft beige. Looks more Mocha to me, but I'm not an expert on these. Anyone, have any input???
The cabinet is the blonde wood trapezoid shaped cabinet, called the spinet. It is pretty neat the way it opens out. Mine needs some repair and restoration---Oh Skip???? I've got questions for you----

Skip is up here loafing - you can't have him... He just blew up his bed... He and Pat are resting up for tomorrow. We plan to hit up all the antique stores tomorrow then play in the shop on Monday and see how it goes. I think we are going to do wiring. If you are in the area stop on by.
You for sure got your $20 worth. You are going to have to do some clean up. The bobbin case is going to set you back a bit. I got one for a FW from sew-classic and it worked just fine.
