Sounds like a bubbly good time cleaning it up....careful that he doesn't slip out of the saddle.

Once I can get the use of both hands, I'll give that a try. Last year I had to soak the bobbin winder from my 127 in fluid film to get it moving... it was rusted together. I don't think this one will be as difficult. I'm still not sure what to do about that hard tire.

Nanna, The bobbin winder is probably not stuck, just out of adjustment. The screw on the front is a small cam. Loosen it slightly until it moves freely and tighten the nut on the back while holding the screw in place. It might take a few times to get it just right. It can be tricky to get it just right by trial and error but once it is done and tight, you won't have to do it again. If you need more help just ask. I'd be glad to help. Trish, It's good to hear that you're doing well and your DH is taking good care of you. My DH and son are doing so much since I've gotten hurt. I don't know what I'd have done without them.

I'm planning on giving it a try tomorrow. With the hand therapy today I didn't get to it. But I feel like I might be able to get back to my former self now that I can start getting the movement back in my hand. I'll be sure to let you know how the cleanup goes. Thanks, Glen.

Yes just use sewing machine oil to clean the decals. Put on some machine oil and let sit awhile then use cotton balls and more machne oil and gently start cleaning and it may take time to get them clean and if there is a little yellow still left it is the old shellac that as turned a little dark and that is okay. You don't want to remoce the shellac you just want to get the grime off it.

Hi, Is there a post here about adjusting the timing on an oscillating bobbin machine...It's a vintage Bamberger deluxe zig zag and has internal cams for some other stitches....I would like to try doing it myself If possible...

I doubt that you will find a manual or any repair info on this particular machine. It is similar to a lot of other badged Japanese machines. Timing is a tricky thing to do yourself too, if it is indeed off. Most machines are not out of time. Especially one that robust. If you are set on doing it yourself, you should learn as much about timing as you can on a machine similar to yours. Most are similar but if you learn a lot about similar machines they should apply to your machine too. What you are looking for is the hook to pass the needle JUST as the needle starts to retract upwards. I hope this helps.
