It's a 3/4 machine and about ... 25lbs. definitely not a featherweight but the handle makes it manageable.

I'm buying a F.W. from Oregon, my sister plans on mailing it to me in Southern California.
What is the best way to package it?

Pack the case and machine separate! Miriam, you need to answer this! Miriam is the best at packing machines to ship!

*doing the happy dance*

I just bought one of the machines on my wish list. It was on Craigslist yesterday in Colorado Springs. Paid him and my mom is headed over to go pick it up. She'll deliver it to me in 2 weeks when she's here for a visit. Its a Pfaff treadle. I know it is missing a drawer and it doesn't have any attachments but it DOES have the shuttle and bobbin. We have a collection of about 75 drawers from that estate so I'll start there to see if one fits, if not I'll be on the lookout. I know a couple of you have this machine here so advice is certainly welcome!

On a totally unrelated note, my mom came across 2 cams for a 401, 403 machine and passed them along to me. I have no need for them. They are fashion discs 19 and 20. Not able to take photos at the moment but here are some links (not mine) to what I have. Free to a good home.

Let me know if someone can put them to use.

Jennb,

I love your new machine! Great score. It would be a long two weeks for me.

Thanks! I've been wanting a Pfaff ever since I saw the photos of the ones other members here have. I found one on a liveauction site about 3 weeks ago, and placed a bid, but they ignored my bid and it sold for half my bid. I was TICKED. They came back after the fact and said I didn't provide them a credit card with my bid, but there is no way to do that when you bid...plus I was watching it live and it wouldn't accept my live bid either. They were so rude to me on the phone when I called them. It was the particular auction house, not liveauction.

Anyway, I've been on the lookout for a nice German treadle, and aside from the Kayser I found in Colorado whose owner is STILL advertising it for sale and STILL not budging on the price, this one popped up yesterday so I snagged it as soon as I saw it. He sent me photos confirming it has a bobbin and shuttle too, so it has what it needs to work, and I'll get a drawer for it whenever. I have boxes and boxes of attachments so I'm sure one box or another will work on it.

Oh and I'll be spending the time figuring out where in the world I can put this one...I may have to move my treadmill to give this one a home.

She needs a little work before she'll sew. I'm going to replace the belt and she needs a thorough cleaning because she has been in the same position for more than 25 years. She's quite stiff so I'll give her some TLC and see if she doesn't come back to life. I'm just happy the bobbin and shuttle are there!
