I have a spare 27 front slide plate, you could recontour the front edge to match. It won't be perfect but it will work.
To make a clear slide plate use a CD cover and carefully cut away what you don't need. Make it just a hair wider on all sides then carefully sand it to fit with 600 or finer sand paper. I made one for my Minnesota B and it works pretty good.

Dan, I also have a twin to your VS2 with the Rose and Cornflower or sometimes called Painted Roses decals! The decals on mine are not as complete as yours though.
Monica, your Empress is really cute! It would be fun to redo the decals!

Has anyone tried a different slide plate on a Minnesota? My Minnesota H needs the front slide plate and I am thinking a slide from a 27/127 might work? They sure look similar. Finding an actual Minnesota slide plate is not working, I have looked for a long time. The problem is my 127 is up on a very high shelf, and I can't get to it to get the slide off to go try it on my Minnesota!

If the Minnesota H slide plate are the same as the Minnesota B the answer is no. I tried that 27 slide plate I have and it didn't fit.
Jon sent me a stamped metal one that used to be an under braider or something for mine. Works great.

Well someone wanted to hand crank this Japanese 15, but I guess then decided it wasn't worth it! Anyone want a Japanese 15 HC? This is funny - a Japanese 15 with a Chinese HC added! http://sacramento.craigslist.org/for/3706034162.html You know, I might have to consider getting this myself!

Dano and Mom3, I think we have triplets as I have one also but the slide plates are both there and it sews beautifully. I refurbished it and the cabinet and my DH painted the irons. It sits proudly where it can be seen by all who enter my home and always gets exclamations of its beauty. Aren't we lucky?

Glenn, What brand of aniline dye stain do you use? and What brand of Gold paint did you use for that Franklin? I want to repaint my gold on the silvered decals of my Eldredge. Thanks!

I used alcohol soluble aniline dye in black from http://leevalley.com/ but you can order it from any woodworkers cat.(no specific brand) The gold paint is testors in high gloss that you can find in any hobby store. I used a small artist brush to paint the decals. You may need to thin paint out a bit to make it flow easy just don't make it to thin so it runs.
You may want to get a light brown for the shading if needed.
